Carpinteria Fly-Fishing the Surf Nov 2007

Not much happening here with the fly rod, but my fishing buddy had a great time!

If you have a quadruped for a fishing buddy like I do, the Carpinteria State Beach is not the place to fish.  No dogs allowed.  So travel about 1 mile North to Santa Claus Lane - exit - and park on the street.  This stretch of Carpinteria beach is not in the State Beach range, and does allow dogs.

We learned the hard way that a floppy-eared dog (like my Golden) sometimes get water in the ear canal that wont dry since it's covered.  After getting an ear infection his vet told me to pin his ears back after swimming or bathing.  I now keep a scrunchie in the truck... he doesn't seem to mind, and his ears stay healthy.
