Orvis Wading Sandles Review

I have been wearing these felt bottomed wading sandles since I got them as a Christmas present last year.  So, what you will read here is only after many, many hours of fishing in them.

The red arrows are the pain-points.  Whoever designed these sandles has never had a pile of fly line at his/her feet. Nothing I have found in fly fishing is nearly as frustrating as trying to shoot line only to have it get snagged on these velcro tabs.

The picture above shows the hold-your-sandle-on-but-grab-the-fly-line-tabs (red), and also the one feature that I actually like; the felt bottoms (green).  I wear these in my favorite local stream and freeze them when not in use, because felt is a great way to spread NZMS (New Zealand Mud Snail) - which is bad.  Since my local stream is NZMS positive, I never use these anywhere but other NZMS positive streams.  Even still, I freeze them when not in use.

Overall, I like them a lot - when I'm not fishing.
