Piru Creek Spring 2008 - Wild Trout and Low Flows at Frenchman's Flat

This might be my last Piru Creek update for a while.  The flows are way down, algae is covering the streambed like a
shag carpet, and the fish are much tougher to find.

I'm not saying that I wont go to Frenchman's Flat this summer, but I wil probably break out the float tube and go after
Bass more than anything else.

The flows are good enough - it seems - to sustain the trout population.  I have seen this creek much, much lower.

The algae is out of hand.  I am not sure what impact this will (or will not) have on the creeks ability to promote trout life.

I did manage this 15" beauty.

If anyone needs a reason to protect this fishery, here it is.  This wild 'bow, and others like it, need to be allowed to breed.
