How-to Tie Caddis Larva |

|
Page 1 of 3 I found a caddis larva on the business end of my hook recently and set out to try and mimic it. Then Hank and I went out and tried them on the water. This article features the inspiration, execution and insanity of being hopelessly obsessed with fly-fishing. The photo below is the inspiration.
Now for the execution.

First I shaped the body with a solid base of thread wraps.
I continue to add thread wraps which provide bulk (I like a meaty fly).
After tying in a single strand of flash (doubled over) and the clear ribbing, I make about 5 spaced wraps and secure at the head.
Next I wrap the ribbing up to the eye with close, tight wraps and secure.
