Recipe:

Hook size: #14
Body: Tan sparkle scrap from over-body
Overbody: Tan sparkle yarn
Wing: Short, fine Deer hair
Thread: Brown olive 8/0
Thorax:  Brown  dubbing

Step 1: Wrap in and trim.

Step 2: Seperate  a single ply of tan sparkle yarn, and split that in half.  Tie the first half about 2/3rds back from the eye on the top of the shank.

Step 3: Use the other half on the bottom of the shank.

Step 4: Use scrap - extra fluff - from the tan sparkle yarn as dubbing. Lightly dab wax on the thread and dust it with your yarn scrap.

Step 5: Leave some room near the eye of the hook for Deer hair and thorax.

Step 6: Pull the upper and lower yarn forward and make a loose loop with the thread to hold it in place.  Now use a half-hitch needle to pull the yarn back towards the bend to form the over-body.

Step 7: Tie in a small pinch of deer hair and trim the butts.

Step 8: Dub a light amount of brown dubbing material (enough for about 2 loops) and whip finish.

The fly should sit half submerged in the water, simulating a caddis emerging and getting ready to take flight.
